key west

we're having fun in florida. the drive down to key west was long, but scenic. we had a great time riding our bikes around the town, drinking margaritas on the wrap around porch and listening to live music at the irish pub downtown. we also visited hemingway's old house after having a seafood and avocado tower for lunch downtown.

apart from the flat tire that roberto had to change in the blazing sun after not sleeping for two days i'd call it a successful trip. tomorrow we're off to florida. roberto is already snoozing.

road trippin'

I'm at Starbucks right now having an iced coffee planning our trip to Louisville to pick up Roberto at the airport tomorrow with Leslie. Poor Roberto is going to be exhausted! After returning to Evansville from Louisville we will catch some zs and then pick up again the following morning and leave for Florida. We'll stay the night with my dad outside of Tampa and then the following morning head down to Key West. Roberto will fully experience the American "road trip"! What are some good road trippy things we can do on the way down? Eat Cracker Barrel? Stop and see historic roadside sites? I'll keep you posted!

I've had some free time lately so I've been working on ways to update my blog. I now have a domain which is www.mymoveablefiesta.com. There's been a name change since mymoveablefeast was taken, but fiesta sounds even better and is more fitting than feast anyway (I do live in EspaƱa)! Now you don't have to go through blogspot to get to my blog!

what's happening

Workinginstitute
The weeks are going by so fast. They always do. Last week I spent my days knitting, crocheting, watching movies, listening to music, spending time with family or working out. I've been going to yoga and pilates classes almost everyday at the gym. On Wednesday Grandmother and I had a great dinner at a German restaurant in town with Uncle Bradley and Aunt Vicki. In the past week I've watched two Woody Allen films (Hannah and Her Sisters and Manhattan), Le pere de mes enfants (since I was never able to see it with Helena), La Belle Personne, Derecho de Familia, Exit Through the Gift Shop (a documentary recommended by some fellow coffee tasters about the street artist banksy) and more. All very good!

This weekend was great. On Saturday I went out to eat in New Harmony with mom and Rick. We ate at the Red Geranium and we sat in the back of the restaurant with a panoramic view of the lush green forest behind us. You could even make out a small waterfall in the distance. My meal was amazing. I had wine, a cheese plate appetizer, pork chop, caramelized onions, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans and bread pudding for dessert. Perfection. After dinner we went to the New Harmony Theatre to see the comedy 39 steps. On Sunday I stayed home playing board games with my little cousin James and then went to pilates in the evening. Today I went to a small coffee shop downtown with my little sister and then went to yoga. I finished the night off with a glass of wine with Leslie downtown. Now I must sleep. Let's hope this week will be as fun filled as the last. Roberto's coming on Saturday!!!!

I've posted some pictures from a few years ago in New Harmony.

home again

I've been having a great time since got home. I still haven't seen all of my friends and family, but I'm working on it. I'm at Starbucks right now listening to music and drinking a peppermint tea with Leslie while she plans some of her classes that she'll be teaching this summer at Ivy Tech. We used to be students studying together and now we're teachers working together, well, I'm listening to music and writing in my blog, but still, we're not students.

Bissy and I had a cook out at her house on the 4th of July and then we went down to the river and to celebrate independence day by watching the fireworks and listening to the patriotic music. A perfect way to celebrate my return to the U.S!

This morning I went to the dentist for a cleaning. When I went to the dentist in Spain and they told me my teeth were perfect and that I didn't need a cleaning. My American dentist couldn't believe that they had told me that and said my teeth were covered in tartar and I have two cavities! Shame on you, Spanish dentists. I have to go back in for two fillings tomorrow.

I will continue to update my blog while I'm home. I think I'll get back to editing my music on my computer and my tea. I'm going to the library this afternoon and after dinner I'm meeting Melissa for a drink downtown. :)

P.S. It's freezing in Starbucks!
