I'm sitting on the couch too tired to read, which is what I normally do before bed, so I've decided to update my little blog. My French class this morning was a drag so I'm thinking about not going on Wednesday and drinking coffee and working on Spanish DELE preparation activities in my p.js instead. Might not sound fun to you but to me it does.
St. Patrick's day was last week and we celebrated Ireland all week at school. I had fun painting shamrocks and leprechauns with the kids while singing Molly Malone. I felt connected to Irish culture because I was also reading "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt where I learned fun Irish phrases like "I don't give a fiddler's fart". I recommend the book to anyone who hasn't read it. It's a bit depressing but a lovely description of life in Ireland during and after the great depression. It reminded me a lot of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" except Frankie takes the place of Francie. Now I'm reading "El juego del angel"(The Angel's Game) in Spanish because I read "The Shadow of the Wind" last year by the same author and I really liked it. Every time I read in English I think that English is the best language in existence and that we have such wonderful words that don't exist in Spanish like sake, dawdle, poke, dread and cumbersome. Then I read in Spanish and I think that Spanish is the best language in the world because it has such wonderful words that don't exist in English like madrugar, perjudicar, regalar and cachivache. I've learned to avoid trying to translate things because it's useless and that every language has it's own rich vocabulary.
I tried to teach myself to knit last week and I found it difficult but then I watched some videos on continental style knitting and it's almost the same is crocheting. Maybe there's hope for me yet.
I bought a lovely periwinkle blue dress for the wedding we have to go to in April and Kelsey's wedding this summer. Can't wait to dance in it.
Until next time!
Congratulations to Mom and Rick on their marriage! Nothing could make me happier!

another successful weekend
We had a another beautiful landscape and scrumptious food filled weekend. My painting class went well and I'm pretty excited about working on artsy fartsy projects again. I stopped for a long time but I'm starting to feel inspired again. Hopefully this will lead to some new projects! I've just been dilly-dallying with tempera and water color basically copying other people's creations, but hey it's a start! Here is my pomegranate painting that I still haven't finished and then a little design I copied onto my moleskin journal.
I also made a delicious cake this weekend. We picked the last two blood oranges off of Roberto's Uncle's tree in the orchard and created this...
Ah, and did I mention that we have our spring break plans finalized? Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna and Prague! Yippy!
